Hello there literate roleplayers. Are you tired of bland Light vs. Dark plots, equine RPGs that all seem the same, and plots that don't affect your character?
Well we've got a surprise for you. At The Secret it's not just about good and evil. In fact, good and evil don't have a lot to do with things. No matter whose side you're on, you can be as nice or as cruel as you see fit. But if you live in the north you'd better be tough if you want to stay alive. Here's a summary of what kinds of characters you can make:
Southern equines: The Resistance. You like freedom and would rather be left to your own devices. Conquering is not really your thing, you just want to be left alone to start a herd. Weakland equines: The Captives. You keep your head down and hope you don't get beaten up too often. You dream of escaping to the south, but know you'll be killed for trying. Mostly mares live here, though there is a small number of stallions. They usually get beaten down the most so they can't rebel. Northern equines: Tartarus's Legions. You work for the mastermind, Tartarus, the one who blew the news about the object of power out into the open. You answer to his captain Atlas, and you spend your time fighting, bullying mares in the Weaklands, and training colts for the army. If you have any spare time you can gather a small herd. Haven of Hesperides: The Secret Keepers. You know not hate nor greed, and you live within the walls of the Haven. You may leave to explore, but other equines seem so different to you. You live in peace and philosophy, seeking knowledge and enlightenment. But you know what is brewing, and the battle will come to your doorstep even though they cannot break down the door.
We are also accepting staff applications for Global Moderators, Graphics Designers and Skin Designer.
What's going on... ?
There was peace once, though by now it is but a distant memory in the minds of those old enough to remember. There was order and cohesion, and nothing to fear. The Keepers of Hesperides stayed within their walled Haven, and none disrupted their peace. There was always a rumor that an object of unspeakable power lay hidden within those great walls, but in time the rumor grew dull with age. But now a young stallion, maddened with greed, is gathering all the information he can about this mysterious object of celestial power. Flanked by the powerful drafts of the northern lands, he is murdering and taking prisoners left and right. There is only a handful of southern herds that stand against him, led by the mysterious Theseus. If they are vanquished, the Keepers will be on their own. Chaos and uncertainty abound. How much longer can the forces of reason hold off this madman?
The board is set, the pieces are in play. Whose side will you join?
Caelius Island « Result #2 on Jul 16, 2008, 10:23pm »
Caelius Island, meaning "heaven", is far from that. Caelius is a huge chunk of land mass in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, that is completely overrun by wild dogs. The island is unmapped and unknown to the public, for a certain reason the government hides. It's been so long ago that the incident occurred, most dog that live there now have been born on the island. Only a few elders remain that remember the horrific story of when they were first abandoned on Caelius.
These dogs have grown up hearing the stories of how it all happened. It's been said that some scientists working for the government were messing around in the lab one day. After mixing and creating new chemicals they believed to have found some sort of cure. They tested the so called cure on mice and rats first, and when it seemed to be going well, they started to use cats, dogs, and other species.
Not long after, they discovered something had gone wrong. Through the cure, a new disease formed, that only affected dogs. The virus sweeped across the nation, so quickly, that they were unsure of how it spread. It was very deadly and if a human were bitten by an infected dog, death was most likely to occur.
The government was in panic. They tried to stop the spread of the virus and find a cure, but the results were inconclusive. Drastic measures had to be taken, as many people and canines have already experienced deaths.
Trying to keep it a secret as best as they could, the government enforced each and every canine in the country to be tested. If results came out positive, they would be shipped off to an island far out into the Pacific. They left a reasonable supply of fresh, living, meat, and ensured that there was fresh water sources across the island. With so much breeding and reproducing, they eventually became immune to the virus.
Caelius was big enough for the canines to split up into there own groups and live among there own species of dog. Fights broke out every so often, and eventually it turned into one huge war. Not many dogs populated the island at that time, but most of the species were, the once-domesticated dogs, and wolves - They were the only survivors. Today, they try their best to live at peace, only few fights tend to break out, and hardly any wars occur.
As the dogs expanded further into the island they made new discoveries, one of which was a vast area of ancient ruins. The history of the past civilizations lays unknown, but many new things are still uncovered. The dogs make use of the ruins anyway possible. So many stories to uncover. So many wars to fight. Can heaven really be found in the middle of an ocean?

The Plot « Result #4 on Jun 13, 2008, 11:56am »
You step into a new land, you imagine what this new place will bring you this year. It is springtime and the wild flowers have all bloomed out, the maple tree are getting their new green leaves, and the prairie grasses that were all once dead and never existed, now lived and everything was in bloom once again. It seemed as if when everything was dead, and there was once no hope for the sad forloned valley, it reborned and everything sprung out as if it were the first time it had done so. Was it actually once a dark valley? You dont believe it.
You turn to the dark bloody path behind you and realize the land of Massacre will only have to do for right now, because the land behind you doesnt look too welcoming. Massacre is an odd name for such a beautiful place isnt it? Well fellas its only springtime here, but once the leaves start getting dark and everything dies out once again, you wont be in much luck, I'd run if I were you. It's only trouble for the lights and it means taking over for the darks. I wouldnt stay here permanently, so have your foals and leave, this is land of the darks. They just haven't come out to find you yet.

General
Do not Powerplay (powerplaying is when you control another person's character or when you do not give the other person a chance to react, and react for them.) Do not god model. (god modeling is when you make your character invincible or magical in some way.) Use complete sentences and try to use correct spelling and grammer. There is a spell check. No cussing what so ever. If your leaving for good, then please post in the deletion board and notify me, the admin. If you are going away for more than 4 weeks, then I suggest you post in the absent board. No racist, or sexist talk, it is rude and uncalled for. Do not talk back to staff members, what is said, is obeyed. Respect all members and staff. Do not fight in any boards, no one wants to hear it. If you need to work something out, then you can work it out through PMs, but threatening other members is uncalled for and rude. I, the admin and creater/owner, have the first, middle, and last say, but you may give me your opinion. You may not have more than one or two pictures in your signature. You may have as up to five it they are small, and dont stretch the page, but if it stretches the page at all, you will be asked to re size them or take them off. (you may have as many links to the pictures if you like, if it doesnt stretch the page.)
Breeding and Foaling
In breeding, there is no real breeding allowed, and especially dont let me catch you posting graphic breeding. Instead of posting your stud and mare breeding in the breed board, you will fill an application of the mare and stud's stats and a mod will come along and create the foal for you. Once you have filled out the application for the mare and stud, you can go to the foalings board and check there regularly to see if your foal has been posted up. you may not tell the mod what you want your foal to look like, though you may give suggestions and character trait information.
Posting
When posting, there is not a specific number of words you should have, but please make sure it is at least 2 or more paragraphs long. Make sure you use complete sentences and try to use correct grammer and spelling, we have a spell check you know. Please do not post in font bigger than size 2. Size 1 would be the best to use though.
C-Box
Do not impersonate or pretend to be someone else you are not. Do not pretend to be a new member to regain trust. No advertising what so ever, if you need to, you can put the link in your name, but that is all. Respect everyone on the c-box; no one is better than everyone else. No spamming. (If you have something that is really worthwhile to talk about and it takes up several lines, that is ok, but dont just carry on because you are bored.) No cussing in the c-box. No flaming. (Flaming is when you go on and on about how bad someone is)
